Information, tips and interesting facts about a great passion:
Tours in the Alps – from entertainment to tour planning.

What the Alpine-Marathon is:
We love the Alpine passes and the roads and paths through the Alps. Every Alpine country is different, every region is different, and every single Alpine pass is different and interesting and unique in its own way.
The uniqueness of course comes from the age of the mountains, the rock, the formation, but above all from the people who live there, their customs and their culture in all its facets – in the way they live, live, work, eat and enjoy, in the way they are.
And we want to capture this – in text, language, images and film. And to inspire and inform others.

It all started with the idea of gaining an overview, understanding and experiencing the diversity and fascination of the Alps. The result was our first adventure. As our free time is limited, we came up with the idea of travelling from the east to the west in a week.

7 days | 6 countries | 50 passes:
In order to have a plan, the idea became a motto: We crossed through 6 Alpine countries over 50 Alpine passes in 7 days – by motorbike.

We filmed this tour for ourselves on film. Overwhelmed by the impressions, the constantly changing landscapes, routes and cultures, we wanted more – and to share it. The additional term “Alpine-Marathon” was born. Simply because the lifestyle is more than just 7 days and because a better term had to be found for the web address – even if, as we realise, we are not the only ones.

Today, many years after the first Alpine passes tour.
2017 was the first Alpine Passes Tour under the motto “7 days | countries | 50 passes”. A lot has happened since then. And … we have many more plans.

Basic knowledge for your home – informative, decorative and analogue: The Alpine passes poster.

For our “7 days | 6 countries | 50 passes” tour, we need a clear planning basis. But we don’t have one. So we make ourselves a map of the Alpine passes. It’s amazing how many passes we discover that we didn’t even know existed, and yet they’re so close to known routes.
The result is our Alpine Pass Poster – the idea: maybe someone else besides us would like this decorative planning overview.
We are now in the 5th edition, with different designs.

Enhanced knowledge and planning tool for anywhere: the digital, interactive Alpine Pass Atlas.

The question keeps coming up, “Is the Alpine passes poster also available in digital form?” No! Not yet, but now there is!
After all, we have an automotive video news platform with a good content management system as a basis.
We are expanding it, creating the right space for the “Alpine-Marathon” and developing a digital version of the Alpine Passes poster – which can of course provide much more information.
The basis: an American provider of freely customisable world maps that does not have a monopoly – in combination with our knowledge of Alpine passes.
The advantage of the digital version: it can be constantly expanded and never becomes confusing.
And that’s exactly what we do: Adding information and creating videos and photos of Alpine passes, POIs, hotels and …

The Alpine-Marathon becomes a TV series: reports on tours in various regions of the Alps – on television and in media libraries.

We are often asked: “If you are so often out and about in the Alps and have film equipment with you, why don’t you also produce reports?” That’s exactly what we’re doing now! With the support of regional tourism associations, local guides and volunteer guest motorbike riders, we learn a lot about the country, its people, culture, history, sights, cuisine and Alpine routes.
We then use this information to produce 30-minute TV programmes.
There are two outliers: a visit to the Massif Central in the departments of Ardeche and Lozere – where the roads are also high – and a detour to West Pomerania – where it is fortunately flat, as the routes consist of sand, earth, gravel and sometimes tarmac.

Alpine passes in video clips.

Every Alpine pass we ride is filmed on video. Whenever there is time, we edit short video clips and provide suitable descriptions to give an impression. The clips can be accessed via our Motomovie media library, collected in a “Moto-Site” or via the interactive Alpine Pass Atlas.
Check back regularly – there are always more.

Points of interest (POIs) in the Alps – in the interactive Alpine passes atlas or collected from “A-Z”.

We want more than just motorcycling. Inspired by the tips from the “local guides” for the TV reports, we collect further information on sights and tips.
Simply stop, take a break, get to know a region better and take in the variety of the Alps.
The POIs are constantly being expanded – integrated for planning in the interactive Alpine passes atlas or as an “A-Z” overview.

Alpine passes, Alpine routes, Alpine gravel tracks: facts, information and videos from “A-Z”.

We now have 450 Alpine passes, side roads and gravel roads listed, and the number is growing all the time. Of course, there are always new and unknown things to discover.
This information is either integrated into the interactive Alpine Pass Atlas for planning purposes, or can be accessed as an “A-Z” overview. Key facts, descriptions and in many cases videos are available for all the Alpine passes – and there are more and more. We have already filmed a lot, but have not yet had enough time to edit the material into short clips.

7 days | 6 countries | 50 passes – an unforgettable road trip from Carinthia to Monte Carlo.

We don’t offer motorbike tours, but we have a partner who sees the Alpine Marathon the same way we do: Harry Pucher from Harrys Bike Tours in Carinthia.
He offers our motorbike tour in small groups several times a year (between June and September). You don’t have to worry about a thing and get to experience the most beautiful, highest and most interesting Alpine passes and Alpine gorges. If you want, you can even be surprised by the route every day.
Important: The daily tours are all within the range of around 300 to a maximum of 350 kilometres – rideable in around 6 hours. There is enough time to “see”.

7 days | 6 countries | 50 passes – the unforgettable self-guided motorbike tour.

You don’t want to worry about planning this trip, don’t know enough about the most beautiful and different Alpine passes? When it comes to hotels, do you prefer to rely on the many years of experience of Harry’s team? But still want to cycle at your own pace in a small group?
Then the “self-guided” tour is the right choice. Harry’s Bike Tours takes care of everything. Every day you will receive coordinates and all the important information for the day, but then you ride alone. You only meet Harry again in the evening… and share your experiences with others, or not! As you wish.

Take on the challenge of the Alpine Marathon “7 days | 6 countries | 50 passes” and receive stickers, a certificate and a place in the Hall of Fame.

For each day of the Alpine Marathon “7 days | 6 countries | 50 passes” there is a description with information about the Alpine passes and the riding order. So you can decide for yourself how you want to tackle the tour. Just one day at a time, or an extract, or the whole tour. At the pace you choose.
And this is how it works: Request tour documents and, when you’re on the road, document every Alpine pass with a photo.
Very important: there is no GPS data, how boring! And: the tour days are not identical – because they are often requested – to the tour offered by Harry’s Bike Tours.

What the Alpine Marathon is not:

For us, it’s about experiencing the Alps and discovering new aspects of them – in other words, we want to “see” the Alps.

That is why we are not interested in speed, nor in achieving as much as possible per day.
Even on the “50 Alpine passes in 7 days” tour, there is enough time to “see”.
