Col du Galibier – Ramp to the north
The Col du Galibier is part of the Route des Grandes Alpes and is one of the classics in the French Alps. It is the fifth-highest pass in the Alps. This picture shows the view to the north, the descent down to Valloire. The highest point of the route is at 2642 metres, but is not permitted for all vehicle classes. A few metres below the top of the pass, however, there is a tunnel as an alternative for larger and heavier vehicles. The northern ramp is well tarmaced, with a wide road layout and generous curves.
