Monte Zoncolan, a pass with at least two “faces”…

Monte Zoncolan is located in the Carnic Alps and, at 1750 metres, is more of a moderate pass, were it not for the original, old east ramp and the west ramp. Coming from the east, a wide but winding ascent has now been created - due to the ever-growing ski area. However, there is still the old driveway, very narrow, winding and with poor tarmac. For the more experienced skier, however, it is a lot of fun. The west side, pictured here in the foreground, is just as winding, narrow and steep as the "old" east ramp - but the tarmac is in better condition. There are also a few tunnels that are low and unsuitable for motorhomes. High fun factor with a motorbike. The route starts in the east…

Passo Duran – from Longarone up to 1605 metres.

We came from the south-east as part of the Alpine Marathon 2022. Before that were the "Passo Rest" and Passo Sant'Osvaldo passes, among others. The Passo Duran is less well-known and less travelled. Ideal for our tour - over 50 passes in 7 days through 6 countries - as we started on a public holiday (15 August). Coming from the east, the pass has some narrow passages and is sometimes very winding. The picture shows the view back eastwards, towards Friuli and Slovenia. For us, Harrys Bike Tours, who offer guided tours and self-guided tours as part of the Alpine Marathon, the many participants and the team from SnapShortFilm (TV reports from the Alpine Marathon), the pass was the perfect end to a very varied day of touring - starting…

Passo Duran – Departure towards Agordo

Passo Duran – Departure towards Agordo

The Passo Duran is a little-noticed but very interesting pass in the southern Alps and the foothills of the southern Dolomites. At 1605 metres, it is not particularly high, but the view towards the classic Dolomites (Sella circuit) is magnificent. The tarmac is good, the road is very narrow in places and wonderfully winding in some areas. As part of the Alpine Marathon 2022, this pass was the last stop on day 1. Started in Villach on Lake Faak, arrived in Agordo after 300 km and 9 passes. You can find more information and videos about this pass here on motomovie.de

The red rocks of the Gorges de Daluis…

On day 7 of the Alpine Marathon "7 days, 6 countries, 50 passes", we cycled through the Gorges de Daluis. Sensational views and lots of bends along the gorge. The road is partly single-lane and has many tunnels. A must if you are travelling in the Maritime Alps towards the Cote d'Azur. You can find more information and videos about this pass here on motomovie.de.
