Monte Zoncolan is located in the Carnic Alps and, at 1750 metres, is more of a moderate pass, were it not for the original, old east ramp and the west ramp. Coming from the east, a wide but winding ascent has now been created – due to the ever-growing ski area. However, there is still the old driveway, very narrow, winding and with poor tarmac. For the more experienced skier, however, it is a lot of fun.
The west side, pictured here in the foreground, is just as winding, narrow and steep as the “old” east ramp – but the tarmac is in better condition. There are also a few tunnels that are low and unsuitable for motorhomes. High fun factor with a motorbike.
The route starts in the east in Sutrio and ends in the west in Ovaro near Comeglians. Seen here in the background: the Panoramica delle Vette. A mountain road at an altitude of around 1800 metres. The entire mountain road is gravelled and sometimes closed. Ascent, for example, in the pretty village of Ravascletto.
We rode here in 2021 as part of our “Alpine Marathon” motorbike tour. The Panoramica and/or Monte Zoncolan will probably be part of the overall tour again in 2023. More information about the Alpine passes here on motomovie.de
Info “Alpine Marathon”: We ride several times a year in 7 days through 6 countries over 50 passes. Always around 2500 kilometres, a different tour every year. Originally organised just for us, a small group from SnapShortFilm, the tour is now also offered by motorbike tour operators such as Harrys Bike Tours. We find the “self-guided” tours particularly exciting. A lot of programme and information for little money, and: maximum freedom in planning the tour day.
