We came from the south-east as part of the Alpine Marathon 2022. Before that were the “Passo Rest” and Passo Sant’Osvaldo passes, among others. The Passo Duran is less well-known and less travelled. Ideal for our tour – over 50 passes in 7 days through 6 countries – as we started on a public holiday (15 August).
Coming from the east, the pass has some narrow passages and is sometimes very winding. The picture shows the view back eastwards, towards Friuli and Slovenia. For us, Harrys Bike Tours, who offer guided tours and self-guided tours as part of the Alpine Marathon, the many participants and the team from SnapShortFilm (TV reports from the Alpine Marathon), the pass was the perfect end to a very varied day of touring – starting in Villach/Faakersee and ending below the Passo Duran in the picturesque village of Agordo.
